The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Herb Walk will visit the nearby Fullerton Arboretum for a guided tour of this beautiful 26-acre botanical garden on the campus of California State University. Hop on the bus and join a faculty of renowned herbalists to learn about culinary and medicinal herbs and their traditional uses from the arboretum’s permanent collection of more than 4,000 plant species from around the world. Feather Jones is a Registered Clinical Herbalist in Western Herbalism who integrates herbal remedies, holistic nutrition, flower essences and stress reduction guidance. Her 30-year career in teaching herbal medicine and clinical practice, coupled with a background in Native American (Mandan) tribal teachings, provides her clients and students with a synergistic approach to health and healing. Presently, Jones is Adjunct Professor of Botanical Medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. As well, she was twice past president for the American Herbalists Guild (AHG).
Roy Upton, RH, DipAyu
Trained in Ayurvedic, Western, and Traditional Chinese herbalism, Upton has been working professionally as an herbalist for more than 30 years. He is the executive director and editor of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP), an organization dedicated to the development of quality control standards for botanical medicines. Upton is former president and vice-president of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), director of Planetary Herbals, a member of the Standards Committee of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), and serves on advisory committees of American Botanical Council (ABC), AOAC International, NSF International, and the Lloyd Library and Museum.
David Winston, RH (AHG)
David Winston, an internationally known lecturer, author and ethnobotanist, is the founder of Herbalist & Alchemist. For almost 40 years, Winston has been studying, practicing, teaching and researching Cherokee, Chinese and Western herbal medicine. His world-renowned two-year herbal studies program, the Herbal Therapeutics’ School of Botanical Medicine, has been educating Herbalists, Physicians, Nurses, Naturopathic Physicians, Veterinarians, and Nutritionists in the art and science of clinical herbal medicine since 1980. Winston has been on the Review Committee of the Botanical Safety Handbook, a resource the entire botanical industry, from manufacturers to researchers, relies upon. He is the clinical herbal consultant to hundreds of prominent physicians (MDs, NDs, DOs, DCs) throughout the US, Canada and Europe, and has authored hundreds of articles and a number of books on herbs.
